This year the orienteering event will be in Maulden Woods, A6, Bedford, MK45 3QT. Meet in Woodside car park, Hitchin at 9.30 am for shared transport or in the Maulden Woods car park at 10.15 am. Once assembled participants can sort themselves into teams of not more than four. Maps will be issued on which there will be details of the control check points where clues will be found in the woods. Full instructions will be given on what to do and teams will be set off at intervals. The winning team will be the one who finds all the clues in the fastest time. Not essential, but if you have one, please bring a compass.
When all the teams have returned, and the prizes presented to the winning team, we will travel to The Dog and Badger, 109 Clophill Road, Maulden, MK45 2AD. This is an optional extra and you can take part in the orienteering event without going for the meal afterwards. The pub is offering a set meal …two courses and coffee for £17.95 or three courses and coffee for £21.95. A menu will be sent out for pre ordering after the deadline date for booking, which is Friday 7th April.

This year the 5 mile walk will start from Ron and Shirley’s house at 10.00 am. The address is 9 New Close, Knebworth, Herts, SG3 6NU and there is plenty of room for parking in the cul-de-sac. The walk will be followed by a BBQ lunch in the garden. This will be a bring and share buffet for salads and desserts and the cost of the food to be barbequed will be £4 per person. Bring your own drink. Plates, cutlery and glasses will be provided. Hopefully it will be a nice sunny day so bring a deckchair but if the weather is inclement there will be plenty of seats inside.

Pick your spot in the auditorium, unpack the picnic, pop the champagne cork and settle in for a fabulous afternoon and evening of spectacular entertainment. There will be plenty of stalls to check out with free samples and prize draws and you can visit the Napoleonic re-enactors at their encampment and admire the horses and riders as Crown and Empire parade.
6.30 pm The Napoleonic Cavalry will put on a skill-at-arms display.
7.00 pm The Jaz Spivs will get the party started with the sound and style of the roaring Twenties.
7.55 pm The Evening Gun Salute will herald the arrival of the Grace Spitfire with a volley of shots from a vintage 13 pounder field gun. Carolyn Grace will perform a meticulously choreographed aerial display in the skies above the arena.
8.00 pm to 10.30 pm the evening will continue with an inspiring celebration of soul-stirring classical favourites performed by the New English Concert Orchestra conducted by Douglas Coombes MBE and hosted by Pam Rhodes. The first half finale will be the rousing 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky with full 193 cannons plus musket fire and fireworks. The second half will include proms classics culminating in a dazzling firework spectacular. The price for tickets is £38 per person.
We will meet at the entrance to the arena at 5.30 pm. Please bring a picnic table if you have one, deckchair, your own drink and a plate of food per person for the bring and share picnic. On this occasion please also bring your own plates, cutlery, napkins and glasses. The event will take place whatever the weather so be prepared with shorts or waterproof clothing as necessary and large golf umbrellas to keep off the sun or the rain.

This year the garden party will be at Sally and Dennis Cannon’s house 36a East Road, Langford, Beds, SG18 9QN. Please arrive at 3 pm and bring a small deckchair, your own drink and a plate of food per person for the bring and share buffet. Plates, cutlery and glasses will be provided.
We will be taking a short walk to the end of East Road to visit a wildlife garden so bring appropriate footwear.

As well as being a particularly attractive seaside town on the East Devon coast, Sidmouth is ideally situated in the centre of a walker’s paradise with wonderful scenic countryside both on the coast and inland. As well as the 95 mile Jurassic Coast shoreline there are numerous trails along the Exe and Axe Estuaries, there is the East Devon Way and many other circular walks.
We will stay at the Ramblers Holidays Sidholme Hotel, an elegant Georgian mansion set within beautiful grounds and just a short stroll from the seafront. The hotel has an indoor heated swimming pool. We have provisionally reserved 15 twin/double rooms and 7 single rooms. This provides accommodation for 37.
The cost for 5 night’s half board accommodation is £360 per person. There is a group discount of 5% for 16 or more, so with sufficient numbers this could bring the price down to £342 per person.
Following the success of the Buxton self-led holiday, and with the help of our own excellent North Herts Ramblers leaders, Sally and Dennis are now going to organise and co-ordinate the walking programme for this holiday. There will be the choice of a long walk or a short walk each day.

This holiday allows us to explore the coastal beauty of the Cinque Terre between Genoa and Pisa in Italy. It has a choice of easier or harder walks each day to allow everybody to get the most out of walking this beautiful coastline.
We stay in Sestri Levante, a great base from which to explore the Cinque Terre to the south and Portofino to the north. From here we can walk the spectacular coastal paths above the Cinque Terre or ‘ive Lands’ Sestri itself is a small, relaxed resort spread over two bays. The smart old town, situated on the isthmus, separates the evocatively named Bay of Silence from the Bay of Fables, where our hotel is situated. The Hotel Celeste has the perfect combination of family run hospitality and modern efficiency. It has an ideal sea front location.
Accommodation is in twin bedded and single rooms with shower and wc in the 3 star Hotel Celeste. The hotel is particularly well appointed, situated behind its own private beach where sun loungers and canoes may be hired. All rooms have hairdryer, safe and free Wi-Fi. There is also a free internet terminal in reception.
Breakfasts and dinners are included in the holiday price and will be taken in the hotel.
Lunches are not included. Sestri offers possibilities to purchase picnic supplies. Return flights and all local transport costs in connection with the walks are included.
The basic price is £980 per person sharing a twin bedded room, with a single supplement of £155/£210 depending on the room type.
